The process to convert your foreign driving license:
- You must go to a JPJ office. Try to go early to avoid the long queues. I went at 8 am and got a long queue already: For opening hours & address check the JPJ website.
- Visit in person the JPJ office with all the documents. They will check your documents and give you an appointment date and time. The waiting time for me was about 20 days for an appointment.
- Come back at the appointment date for submitting all the documents. Once the JPJ officer accepts your application and gives you one acknowledge slip then you have to wait for 2/3 months to final approval.
- On JPJ website go to Inquiry of Foreign Country Driving License Exchange, you must visit this section to follow up on your foreign driving license application status and know when it’s approved. You will not receive any notifications. Check it regularly. It will take 2/3 months to get approval.
- After approval you need to go to the same JPJ office you have applied for and Don’t forget to bring 1 photo on white background (25mm x 32mm). Try to go early to avoid the long queues. I went at 8 am and there was a long queue already. You have to download the JP JeQ Mobile app to scan the QR from the JPJ officer. Using this app you can know how much time you have to wait for the next counter to pay RM 140, you can pay by cash or card. After making the payment you need to go to another counter and within 5 min you will get your Malaysian Driving license.
